Coalition for Responsible Data Center Development Fund 501 c4

The Coalition for Responsible Data Center Development is a 501c3 and a 501c4 organization. For community coalitions fighting large‑scale development or environmental impacts, this structure is incredibly common because:

•   The c3 can fund research, public education, water quality analysis, community meetings, etc.

•   The c4 can directly oppose harmful legislation, pressure local officials, and mobilize residents.

It’s the only way to do both the educational and hard‑hitting advocacy work.

Many community advocacy groups—especially environmental, civil rights, and land‑use organizations—use this dual structure because:

•    The c3 builds credibility, educates the public, and raises tax‑deductible funds.

•    The c4 pushes for policy change, organizes lobbying, and takes stronger public stances.

The two organizations remain legally separate, with separate boards, bank accounts, and activities, but can collaboration is possible within IRS rules.

We are a citizen-centered community committed to connecting Minnesota local and state leaders, organizations, property owners, and resident, working together to mitigate the impact of Data Center installations on electric grids, land use, conservation and water resources.

To educate and engage the public on the environmental, civic, and legal impacts of large-scale data center developments, promote transparency in land-use decisions, and advance responsible, sustainable planning practices for the public good.
