Lawsuit Updates
Both Farmington and Castle Rock Township ("Township") residents have for many years been neighbors to the Fountain Valley Golf Course. As you know, Farmington has made plans to interfere with both communities' long-established neighborhoods by disregarding the 2017 and still active Orderly Annexation Agreement. Out of necessity, friends and neighbors formed the Coalition for Responsible Data Center Development ("CRDCD"). Our goals have been to learn more about how this came to be proposed, form opposition in the absence of responsible planning and dialogue by City Council and Planning Commission, and educate others locally and in other communities facing similar issues.
The results of these activities helped the CRDCD to make the decision to file a lawsuit against Farmington in November 2024, while Castle RockTownship filed a separate lawsuit in 2025.
The City of Farmington moved to dismiss both complaints and both times were denied. While the two cases are now consolidated, the CRDCD and Castle Rock Township each continue to maintain their separate complaints and will incur separate litigation costs.
The CRDCD will continue to make important and necessary efforts to protect our established neighborhoods and precious natural resources by proving its case in court.
On behalf of the CRDCD, its members are grateful for both communities' moral support and financial contributions.
